NDLEA Arrests Drug Trafficker At PH Airport
Barely two months after
the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested an Italy, bound drug baron, the agency has apprehended another drug trafficker at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, the NDLEA Commander, Mr Olute Kunbi David said the suspect, Mr Chukwuemeka Bobby Martins, 34, was arrested on March 16,2014 at about 8pm while attempting to board Air France flight to Italy via Charles De-Guile International Airport.
Mr David disclosed that the suspect who hails from Nnewi in Anambra State, concealed inside his pant 80 wraps of powdering substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing 1.560kg.
He explained that the drug dealers hard changed their mode of concealment which used to be by injection and insertion, but had recently changed to parking or padding.
NDLEA said the recent arrest of Mr Martins was a signal to drug traffickers that the agency was determined to uncover and apprehend anyone involved in the act no matter their trick.
The commander warned unemployed youth not to be lured into drug trafficking as a way of making quick money, because of its unpleasant consequences.
David said although the Port Harcourt airport remodeling exercise was hampering and slowing down their operation, the agency would continue to be vigilant to ensure that Port Harcourt International Airport was not turned into drug hub.
When asked about his involvement in the drug business, Mr Martins said he had.no regrets.
