The Akwa Ibom
State Pre-National Conference held in Uyo, has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term in office.
This is contained in a communiqué read by Secretary to the Organising Committee of the Summit Dr Ekeng Anamdu.
The communiqué said there was need for the president to run for a second term in view of the courage exhibited by him to transform the country,.
It also expressed appreciation to Jonathan for his courage to convoke a national conference that would give Nigerians opportunity to discuss the future and problems of the nation.
It held that the conference would give Nigerians the opportunity to talk about the problems that have bedeviled the nation for the past 100 years.
The communiqué stated that the Nigerian federation should be structured to give the federating units more power.
It added that the states should have their constitution, without in anyway weakening the constitution and functions of the Federal Government.
The summit also advocated for a new constitution for the country based on equity and justice, adding that the present constitution was made by the military.
The Akwa Ibom pre- national conference summit also sought for a fiscal federalism based on the principle of revenue generation and resource control.
The summit advocated for the creation of more states in the country including Itai state in Akwa Ibom and Ogoja state in Cross River.
The communiqué also called for the creation of additional state in the South East zone as it was the only geo-political zone with less than six states.
