Group Raises Alarm Over Okocha’s Safety
The Obio/Akpor Peoples Forum has expressed fear over the safety and security of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Rivers State, Sir Tony Okocha.
The group, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Emeka Chuku, said those opposed to Governor Amaechi have allegedly initiated plots to coerce Sir Tony Okocha to submission or better still take his life, due to his continued support for the governor.
According to the statement, “more worrisome is the fact that security operatives treat with levity security reports concerning supporters of Governor Amaechi, and we are constrained to raise alarm on this development”.
The group further alleged that officials of the state government were already on the watch and trailed by unknown persons engaged to nail them and members of their family down.
It, however, said it would not fold its arms and watch as lives of government officials especially the Chief of Staff, Sir Tony Okocha were in jeopardy.
Chuku, in the statement added that it could no longer be guaranteed police protection, hence called on Nigerians especially the good people of Rivers State to pray for its leadership, adding that the state was under siege and only God Almighty would turn events around and deliver the state from the hands of over-ambitious politicians who want to spill innocent blood in their quest to achieve their selfish political ambition.
