Eko Electricity Company Targets 20-Hour Power Supply Daily
The Chief Executive Officer, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, has assured its customers of a 20-hour electricity supply daily by December.
Amoda gave the assurance in Lagos during the conferment of the ‘Africa Distinguished Gold Service Award’ on him by the Centre for Democratic Governance in Africa, based in Abuja.
He said that all the electricity Distribution companies (Discos) had been mandated by the Federal Government to ensure that the cities had a minimum of 20-hours of electricity supply, daily.
According to him, the Eko Distribution Company also wants to key into the Federal Government’s directive and ensure that customers within our network enjoy uninterrupted power supply by December.
“We urge customers to support the electricity distribution companies to achieve the projection.
“The present administration under President Goodluck Jonathan has improved the power sector tremendously, to benefit the masses,’’ he said.
Amoda said that the sector had been comatose for over 20 years during the military regime, adding that its improvement started under the civilian administration.
He said that all ongoing projects within the zone were meant to improve service delivery when finally completed.
According to him, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), with the support of the Federal Government, have an agreement on a satisfactory pricing regime with those who will make the gas available.
Amoda said that regular power supply would help in combating some challenges facing manufacturing companies in the country,
The PHCN boss, therefore, urged the workers to put in their best, to upgrade service delivery in the zone.
He, however, said that no worker would be sacked in the course of privatisation of the power sector.
Amoda thanked the management of the centre for giving him the award.
According to him, the award is dedicated to all workers of Eko PHCN for their support and hard work.
“If not for them, I will not be standing this morning to receive this award.
“I promise to offer myself for more excellent and quality service delivery to my fatherland and to the growth of the power sector,’’ Amoda said.
Dr Dafe Akpocha, the Director General, Centre for Democratic Governance in Africa, said the award was given to Amoda considering his selfless service, quality service delivery and effective innovation.
Akpocha said that the award was usually given to individuals and companies that have distinguished themselves through effective service delivery.
The director general appealed to Nigerians to invest in the country, rather than investing in other countries which would not impact on the lives of the people.
“Nigeria is a great country and we must collectively support the socio-economic growth and progress of the country,’’ he added.

Dangote Refinery Resumes Gantry Self-Collection Sales, Tuesday
This is revealed in an email communication from the Group Commercial Operations Department of the company, and obtained by Newsmen, at the Weekend.
The company explained that while gantry access is being reinstated, the free delivery service remains operational, with marketers encouraged to continue registering their outlets for direct supply at no additional cost.
The statement said “in reference to the earlier email communication on the suspension of the PMS self-collection gantry sales, please note that we will be resuming the self-collection gantry sales on the 23rd of September, 2025”.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery also apologised to its partners for any inconvenience the suspension may have caused, while assuring stakeholders of its commitment to improving efficiency and ensuring seamless supply.
“Meanwhile, please be informed that we are aggressively delivering on the free delivery scheme, and it is still open for registration. We encourage you to register your stations and pay for the product to be delivered directly to you for free. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” it added.
It would be recalled that in September 18, 2025, Dangote refinery had suspended gantry-based self-collection of petroleum products at its depot. The move was designed to accelerate the adoption of its Free Delivery Scheme, which guarantees direct shipments of petroleum products to registered retail outlets across Nigeria.
The refinery stressed that the earlier decision was an operational adjustment aimed at streamlining efficiency in the downstream supply chain.
