Semenitari Bags Best Spokesman Award
Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari has called on the publisher of the Andy Briggs Report, Mr. Andy Briggs to be focused and strive towards perfection.
Mrs. Semenitari made the call during the Andy Briggs Report Award at the Le Meridian Hotel, Port Harcourt, where she was awarded ‘‘Most Outstanding Government Spokesman 2012’’ by Andy Briggs Report, recently.
She expressed appreciation for the honour accorded her by the organizers of the award.
The organizers of the award noted that Mrs. Semenitari was elected from a list of several nominees on the basis of their achievements in their engagement.
The former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Mr. Ndagene Akwu who presented the award, said having shown remarkable competence, the media needed to rise to the occasion by recognizing her innovative efforts in projecting the image of the state.
He said her expertise led to the development of the Rivers Brand which has now become a crucial and impressive feature in all State stationery since her appointment as information and communications commissioner.
Mr. Akwu noted that Mrs. Semenitari has become an item in national news due to her smart and bold defence of the Rivers State Government’s position on issues concerning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.
In his speech, the Deputy Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Leyii Kwanee, said “Semenitari is one choice the governor made that has assiduously promoted the state locally, nationally and internationally”.
Also speaking, the Bureau Chief of BusinessDay Newspaper, Port Harcourt, Mr. Ignatius Chukwu described the information boss as a creative administrator and reliable technocrat.
