Firm Assures Social Security For Nigerians
Elderly Nigerians will
soon enjoy social security protection nationwide as the New Nation Limited, a private firm operating in Rivers State commences the registration of its “Grey and Strong” programme.
The founder and creator of the programme, Mr Charles Dukwe, who stated this recently in an interview with our reporter in Port Harcourt said the programme designed for elderly-people was intended to provide unprecedented services to support the lives and well being of the elderly those who have clocked 50 years and above.
Dukwe said the programme was formulated in consonance with the low life expectancy in Nigeria adding that beneficiaries of the programme are those that have attained 50 years and above. He explained that the programme would constantly work to increase the amount of benefits for the elderly in the country until it can be comparable to what their foreign counterparts receive.
He said those who would be registered were expected to start getting benefits from December next year. He urged people who wanted to register to do so by buying three inspirational frames of the organisation without any other extra cost.
He noted that the firm was targeting 75,000 people and that those registered would get free quarterly financial support legal support, admission to elderly care homes, free access to elderly club houses and free medical coverage as well as drugs.
According to him, the free recreation and holiday retreat involves life enhancing retreats and fun holidays for its beneficiaries, giving the elderly a chance to experience things the hustle and bustle of life didn’t give them the opportunity to experience in their youth.
“In our desire to encourage everyone to start thinking of care for the elderly, we are making our free offer transferable up to three generations, meaning that a young man can get the certificate for his father and also use it himself when he gets to the age and be able also to transfer same to his son, all at no further cost,” he said.
Dukwe said the programme was unprecedented in coverage business but a testament of the company commitment to bring change to the cause of elderly care in Nigeria.
He said that the company was established in Nigeria to bring about various empowerment programmes as they have in developed countries, for the betterment of the lives of the average Nigerian.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
