FRSC Warns Motorists Against Assault On Officials
The Rivers State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Kayode Olagunju has warned motorists and other road users to desist forthwith from assaulting corps officers on duty.
Dr. Olagunju, in a statement by the Assistant Route Commander, Sector Public Education Officer of the Command, Mrs. Victoria Okoro said such lawless people should have a rethink or have themselves to blame.
According to the statement , the sector commander, was reacting to a recent killing of one of their marshals, Mr. Clifford Azubuike by a bus driver, Mr. Emeka Mbachu at the First Artillery Junction, along Port Harcourt –Aba expressway while on patrol duty.
He said that FRSC took a legal means to bring the culprit to book, and was recently sentenced to death by an Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Dr. Olagunju, who lauded the decision of the Appellate court said no matter how long the case had been, Justice had finally prevailed.
The sector commander noted that some drivers were recently sent to prisons by mobile courts in the state for engaging in violent conduct against corps patrol men.
“The FRSC will continue to protect its men and resources in our task to evolve better and safer motoring environment in Nigeria”, the sector commander.
