Crisis’ll Not Diminish Amaechi –Group
The Rivers Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLEAF), an association of ex-Rivers student union leaders has said that the current crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party in the state will not diminish the political stature of Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
The National President of the foundation, Mr Alex Wele who said this during the inauguration of the foundation last weekend at Opobo town, also cautioned youths in the area against being used by unpopular politicians to destabilise the state.
The RIVLEAF president also urged the people not to sell their votes in the forth-coming elections, stressing that Opobo/Nkoro remained Amaechi’s home till 2015.
Also speaking, the member representing Opobo/Nkoro in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Andrew Miller, said that the people of Opobo/Nkoro would not relent in their support to the state governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by Chief G.U Ake.
Hon Miller, who commended the group for the inauguration, assured of the support of the people, noting that the people of Opobo/Nkoro had never been associated with failed leadership.
He also assured that Chief G.U Ake would soon be restored as the authentic chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, and urged the foundation not to relent in mobilising the people for the state governor.
The council chairman, Hon Maclean Uranta said that the council would continue to support the governor to enable him actualise his dreams for the state.
Hon Uranta also assured of the council’s support to the foundation, and urged them to continue with their campaign of good governance in the state.
In his lecture, Dr Adolphus Toby said that democracy could only thrive in a society where the leaders were held accountable by the followers.
Dr Toby also said that the society needed a leadership that listened to the people, while the followers must be courageous at all times.
He also charged the youths to look forward to a higher level by voting massively for the right kind of leadership in 2015.
