Senate Leader Donates To Ailing Journalist
The Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba last Tuesday donated N1.5 million for the Heart Transplant of Mr Jude Okwe, Cross River Correspondent of Thisday Newspaper.
Okwe was recently diagnosed as having an enlarged heart which requires surgery in an Indian Hospital at the cost of N9 million.
Making the donation, Ndoma-Egba said, he was moved by the deteriorating health of the reporter, adding that the donation was part of his contribution to raising the required amount for the operation.
The senator, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Sam Arikpo appealed to other well meaning citizens to rally round the Journalist to save life.
State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Mr Ndoma Akpet commended him for the gesture and urged other philanthropists, organizations and Professional Colleagues to come to the aide of Jude.
Responding, Okwe thanked the senator for his continued support since his ordeal began, adding that he was always showing concern over his health.
