Money Transfers: Firm Wants FG To Dialogue With Agencies
Mobileworks in United States of America (USA) has advised the Federal Government to dialogue with major international financial support organisations to enable Nigerians gain access to global money transfers online.
The Mobileworks’ Chief Technical Officer, Mr Prayag Narula, gave the advice at the closing ceremony of a two-day micro works for job creation workshop at the Digital Bridge Institute, Oshodi, Lagos recently.
The workshop was to equip jobless Nigerian youths with skills to work on outsource jobs on the Internet at their leisure period for money.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Abuja.
Narula pledged support to sort the problem of denying Nigerians link to connect major international financial organisations doing money transfer on the Internet.
He,however, said that their efforts could not stop the big organisations from changing their policies.
The Mobileworks official suggested that the government should dialogue with global financial operators like Moneybooker and Paypal to ensure access to funds from foreign organisations.
He said the workshop on “How to Earn a Living in the Virtual Work Economy” would create over 1,000 jobs for Nigerians through the company’s platform.
Narula said the number of people who would link their platform and work for them would depend on the number that could successfully open accounts that could be accessed by his company.
“If you do not have an account to which we can transfer the money to you cannot do any work for us, on the system.
“We would make sure that before you can work, you must be able to withdraw your money.
“Paypal is a big company, so I don’t think we can change their policies by asking them to open up to Nigeria, but Nigerian people and their government can.
“It should be the prerogative of the Nigerian government to open their country up to the international banking support facilities.
“And for organisations like us, to enable it become a player in the global economy,” he said.
He said Nigeria needed to solve the problem which had made some global financial organisations ban its citizens from registering on their financial platforms to enjoy their financial services online.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
