Dame Amaechi Floats Micro Credit Scheme
Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi has set up a N26 million micro credit scheme for development of women entrepreneurs in the state.
Dame Amaechi stated this during her visit to Obio/Akor and Port Harcourt City Local Government areas at the weekend.
She stated that the micro credit scheme will enable women to access facility that will enable them set up their businesses and promote growth of small and medium scale enterprises.
The governor’s wife disclosed that each of the 23 council areas will receive N1 million each,, while Ubima, Ndoni and Egbema communities will also receive same amount, respectively.
She disclosed that wives of security officers will also benefit from the scheme.
Dame Amaechi, who on Sunday concluded a tour of 23 council areas and three other communities said women must rise to the challenges of being economic all self reliant to enable them discharge their responsibilities at home.
“This is the time for women to rise and pray, equip ourselves economically and provide assistance to our husbands.”
The governor’s wife stated that she will work in partnership with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and other development partners to source for the funds and provide technical expertise and mentorship necessary for women to succeed in business.
Mrs Amaechi also charged women to raise their children with the fear of God, and enjoined them to pray without ceasing despite the challenges facing the nation.
She pledged determination to advocate more welfare package for women, and appreciated them for their support in the out gone year.
The governor’s wife visited Ikwerre, Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt City, Ubima, Egbeda and Ndoni to end her tour of the local government areas.
Meanwhile, Dame Judith Amaechi has restated her determination to promote early child care and development in the state.
Dame Amaechi stated this at the weekend during the foundation stone laying ceremony of ESI Model Nursery at Batem in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
