Support Families Of Fallen Heroes – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has advised citizens of the state, including philantrophic organisations, church leaders, civil society and well-meaning Nigerians to support the families of fallen heroes, saying that the roles played by the veterans and fallen heroes who laid down their lives to protect the territorial integrity of the nation should not be taken for granted.
Governor Amaechi also called on Rivers people to join hands with his administration to promote the activities of government that would impact positively on the people of the state.
Speaking at an inter-denominational church service marking the 2013 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration held at Royal House of Grace, yesterday, Amaechi said, the active participation of the people in governance ensure dividends of democracy.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr George Feyii, Amaechi urged residents of the state to continue to support and sustain the existing peace and harmony enjoyed during the yuletide season, describing it as a welcome development.
He thanked the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for its prayers to the state and the nation, and for playing a vital role in the inter-denominational service marking the 2013 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration, and also commended members of the Armed Forces for supporting and allowing democracy grow in the current political dispensation.
In his remarks, the General Overseer of Royal House of Grace and State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Zilly Aggrey commended Governor Amaechi for providing dividends of democracy to the people, including free education and health care programmes to better the lives of the citizenry.
