RSG Donates Vehicles To Security Formations
As part of efforts to beef up security of lives and property
in the state, the Rivers State Government has donated 35 Hilux patrol vehicles
to various security formations comprising of the Police, Army, Air Force, the
State Security Service (SSS) and the Navy in the state.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi handed the vehicles through the
Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Tony Okocha yesterday in Port Harcourt,
as he charged them to make judicious use of the vehicles to enhance security
operations in the state.
Amaechi stated that the donation of the vehicles was part of
government effort in sustaining the existing peace and further guarantee
lasting security in all nooks and crannies of the state.
The governor charged the security operatives to work within
the ambit of their legitimate duties and assist the current administration
realize its vision for the people.
Speaking on behalf of service commanders in the state,
Commander of the 97 Special Operations Group of the Air force, Air Vice
Marshall Abbah Zanna expressed delight over the kind gesture of the state
government in attaching importance to security services in the state.
Air Vice Marshall Zanna assured that the vehicles would be
adequately utilized to ensure proper security of lives and property by
patrolling round the clock.
Said he:” I assure you today that these security patrol
vehicles handed over to us would be used to ensure the security of lives and
property in the state, and our men would maintain the trend 24 hours.’’
He further assured that the security agencies would live no
stone unturned in ensuring that the vision of the governor was achieved, that
the people of the state would sleep with their mind at ease.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
