Lawmaker Advocates Harnessing Of Youths’ Potentials
The lawmaker representing
the people
of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in the state House of Assembly, Hon.
Andrew A. Miller, has called upon Nigerian youth to purposely work towards
harnessing the diverse potentials with which they are endeavoured in order to
make themselves leaders of tomorrow.
Hon. Miller made the call in Opobo town while delivering a
keynote address on partnering with the youth’s on packaged by the National
Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Opobo/Nkoro chapter to commemorate the 2012 International Youth Day with the theme
“Building a better World.
The lawmaker, who reiterated the need for security and unity
which should be the paramount concern of
all, especially the youth prayed for behavioral and attitudinal changes
in the society which are pathways to the sustainable development.
Hon. Miller commended Opobo/Nkoro youths for their
exceptional show of coercion and love for togetherness which has translated to
the peaceful disposition of the people noting also that traditional leadership
of the communities in the area are glaring examples worthy of emulation by all.
The lawmaker then called on all youth to shun all forms of
social vices but to reflect on the theme of their celebration by taking,
preaching and acting peace even as they rally round their leaders.
Hon. Miller used the occasion to call on all Nigerians
youths, especially those presently engaged in the Boko Haram sect to eschew
religious and tribal differences and focus on issues that will continue to keep
the country united.
He commended the efforts of Hon. Dakuku Peterside for moving
the idea of an economic development summit for the area in view of its
advantages for the people of the area and called on the people to enhance the
noble idea wholeheartedly.
In a solidarity message, to the youths, the Amanyanabo of
Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Douglas jaja, Jeki V. represented by Alabo Annie
Stewart, commended the efforts of the youths in not only putting up the
celebration in the area but outlining far-reaching programmes like the
interactive session with the council chairman, exhibition of talents and public
lectures.
