FG Assures Completion Of Ikom-Ogoja Road
The Federal Ministry of Works has assured the people of Cross River that the ongoing rehabilitation of Ikom-Ogoja Highway would be completed and handed over in 24 months.
The leader of the team from the Road Sector Inspection of the ministry, Mr Tope Oribuyaku, gave the assurance in an interview on Saturday, shortly after an inspection tour of the project.
Oribuyaku, a senior project engineer in the ministry, who spoke at Alok, in Ikom Local Government area of the state, said that PW Nigeria Ltd, the contractor handling the project, was given two years to complete the job.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far, “barely three months after the contractors mobilised to site’’.
The Project Manager of PW Nigeria Ltd, Mr Martin Whyte, told our source that they were working hard to deliver the job before the deadline.
He said the company had enjoyed “full cooperation” from stakeholders on the road project, including the communities, the Federal Ministry of Works and the Cross River Government.
Work on the project valued at N6.36 billion, was flagged off in February by the Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen.
