Niger Delta
Economic Summit, Strategic To N’Delta Cause -NDDC Bossa
Managing Director of Niger Delta
Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Christian Oboh, has described the just
concluded South-South Economic Summit in Asaba, Delta State as strategic to the
overall development of the Niger Delta region.
Oboh told newsmen that the gathering
provided opportunity for stakeholders to brainstorm over critical issues
affecting the region with a view to exploring ways of addressing them.
“For us this is a new dawn, we are excited;
because a new tone has been set for the NDDC” he declared.
The Managing Director disclosed that as an
interventionist agency, the Commission did not operate in isolation, but work
in synergy with other stakeholders, especially, member states to deliver its
mandate to the people.
This, the NDDC boss explained, underscores
the importance of the South-South Summit as it has enabled stakeholders,
appreciate the vision of the commission with a view to buying into it.
“We need to actually let the people own the
projects that NDDC will execute and if all the states will begin to buy into
our vision, then our problems are solved” Dr. Oboh said.
He restated the Commission’s commitment to the
judicious application of funds stressing that “it is not all about money but
putting infrastructure that will benefit the people and impact positively on
their lives”.
