Lack of parental control and discipline of  children have been highlighted as major reason behind the deliquences and all manner of vices prevalent among children.

The General Overseer of The Royal House of Grace International Church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, made the observation Sunday, in an interdenominational service, held at The Royal House of Grace International Church, Rumueme, to mark the 2012 Children’s Day.

Delivering sermon, Apostle Zilly Aggrey noted that it is not the university education the child acquires that matters most, but the home training and foundation given to him, upon which subsequent development is made affirming that home training and discipline are the bases for a responsible society.

For the peace and security of the Nigerian children, which is the focus of this year’s Children’s Day’s celebration, to be achieved, the cleric enjoins parents to explore the biblical injunction that calls for the “spoiling of the rod to spare the child”.

“As we celebrate the Children’s Day. We in Africa should go back to bible principles. It may be ancient, but it is so modern. It is the only principle that will make peace and security inevitable. If we can hold God tight, here can become the ‘Eden’ of the world”, he said.

Describing behavioural disorders as a world-wide issue, that has become a matter of concern the man of God called on parents to avoid pretentious love, and help the children against copying every issue highlighted in the western scene, as that would amount to running the future of the child in disguise, stating that some of what we consider a “breakthrough”, are obviously a breakdown of law and order, hence the need to check cultures that are alien to our environment, as well as lackadaisical attitude.

While debunking a get-rich syndrome, and begging culture, he prayed parents to teach their children. The dignity of labour as well as prioritising the teaching of citizenship responsibility alongside their rights.
