ASCON Releases Perm Secs Promotion Results
Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), has released the result of the examination sat for by substantive directors in the Rivers State Public Service for appointment to the position of permanent secretary.
Head of Service, Mrs Esther Anucha disclosed this when members of the Directors Forum paid her a courtesy call in her office in Port Harcourt.
Mrs Anucha assured that names of directors with the highest scores would be submitted to the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for consideration, pointing out that the result would not be made public as it was not a routine examination that required the issuance of success letters.
The head of service said, efforts were being made for the allocation of more official vehicles to directors yet to be allocated as part of measures to boost their morale and ensure optimum service delivery.
She decried the prevailing uneven grading system in the state public service where directors in some ministries are placed on GL17 while others are on GL 16, and expressed the hope that a uniform grading system would come into effect during her tenure as head of service.
Mrs Anucha called for regular interaction with the Directors Forum, and urged them to come up with ideas and suggestions that would further enhance the service delivery capacity of workers.
The head of service used the occasion to debunk the recent false reports published in some local newspapers in the state, especially the reduction of the staff strength from 55,000 to 46,000.
Earlier, the Interim Chairman of the Directors Forum, Chief Jonathan Gunn had commended the head of service for her laudable achievements that have transformed the civil service, especially the allocation of 100 cars to directors, introduction of examination for appointment to the position of Permanent Secretary, the special diploma programme for the executive cadre and the annual commemoration of the Civil Service Week, among others.
Also speaking, the Director of Publications in the Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Samuel Iyoyo assured the head of service of their support, and expressed the hope that government would consider allowing directors retire with their official cars.
