Court Remands Policemen Over Murder Of Two Brothers
An Asaba Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered that two police men be remanded in prison custody for the alleged murder of two brothers.
The accused persons, Henry Manager, 46 and Famous Osakwe, 35, are facing a two- count charge of conspiracy and murder in the court.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Bassey Eko, had told the court that the accused persons and others now at large committed the offence on Feb. 12, along Obi Inalu Street, Umuagu, Asaba.
Eko said that the accused persons and others now at large on the same day and place murdered Ike Anigbogwu and Izuka Anigbogwu by firing bullets at them, which cause their death.
He said that the offence contravened section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21 Vol. 1 Laws of Delta State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Sylvester Ehikwe , , who did not take the plea of the accused persons, said that the case was outside the jurisdiction of his court.
He, therefore, ordered that duplicate copies of the accused persons’ case file should be sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) for advice.
He also ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to April 30, for mention.
