Commissioner Warns DPOs On Corruption In Rivers
The new Commissioner of
Police, Rivers State, Mr. Mohammed A. Indabawa, has warned police officers in the state especially the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to shun any form of corruption tendencies that will be detrimental to the success of the force.
The State Commissioner of Police gave the warning during a brief handover ceremony held at the command headquarters, Moscow road, Port Harcourt, Thursday.
CP Indabawa warned that his administration would not hesitate to remove any Divisional Police Officer found indulging in corruption that is dimmed counter to the objectives of the force in the fight against crimes in the state.
He urged officers and men of the command to cooperate with the new leadership in the command, adding that his focal point will be to sustain and improve on the existing achievements made by his predecessor, AIG Suleman Abba.
The State police boss used the opportunity to commend his predecessor, Mr Suleman Abba now Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) for his efforts in reducing the crime wave in the state noting that his administration witnessed a lot of transformation changes in the command.
Earlier in his speech, the out-going State Commissioner of Police, AIG Suleman Abba commended officiers and men of the command for their cooperation adding that it was team work that led to the various achievements recorded during his tenure.
He urged his successor to improve on his achievements and advised him to work as a team with men and officers of the command in order to succeed.
He averred that he was optiminsties that CP Idabawa would succeed in the state due to his past records as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Nassarawa states respectively.
The out-going Commissioner of Police, AIG Abba thanked the State governor Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the entire people of the State for their supports during his tenure and urged them to extend such gestures to his successors.
It would be recalled that CP Indabawa was appointed as the new State Commissioner of Police by the Acting Inspector-General of police (AIG) Muhammed Abubakar following a major re- organisation in the force.
