Talent Hunt For Less-Privileged Kicks Off
The Face of Hope Ambassador, Nkiru Sylvanus, currently leading the campaign against child illiteracy in Nigeria, has expressed her determination to take less privileged children off the streets.
Sylvanus told the newsmen in Calabar after conducting a talent hunt for young people that the project, tagged, “I’ve Got Talent’’, a television reality show, had been a project of “Face of Hope” which is a branch of Rochas Foundation’.
According to her, the auditioning will be conducted in eight cities in Nigeria for the contest, which prize money is 50, 000 dollars.
She said the winner would also have a chance to champion the cause of free education in Nigeria.
“The Face of Hope office is mainly for raising funds for the continuous education of the poor. In raising that fund, we decided to create a special programme of activities.
“We are also looking at getting sponsors, investors, people that will come and we give you value for money and you also make more money to help take more children off the streets into schools.
“So, that gave birth to ‘I’ve Got Talent’ TV reality show which is what we are working on right now.’’
She said that she had been touring the states of Nigeria in search of talents.
“We have been going from state to state looking for raw talents; for people we can actually pick for the final auditioning in Abuja.
“We want to give them the opportunity to grow their talents and at the same time be part of the project.
“We just finished with the audition in Calabar and we are moving to Port Harcourt for the next audition.
“We have about eight cities that we are doing our auditions; we have finished in Enugu, we have done in Calabar, on Tuesday, we are moving to PH then Owerri, Benin, Ibadan, Lagos, Kaduna and Abuja.
“Thereafter, we are going to get all the competitors in one house before we get the final winner’’
She said that the talent hunt would involve people of different backgrounds.
“We are combining all the talents, including the fine arts, fashion designing, art and crafts. We also want to throw light on those talents that have been silent in the country like crafts.
The ambassador also told newsmen that some people came to the audition in Calabar with beaded materials.
“ We also have singing and dancing and acting.’’
She said that no fewer than 100 people would have the chance to feature at the grand finale billed for Abuja
“From each city we are picking 10 persons to Abuja, we will then narrow them down to 30.
“The 30 people will go into the house; the prize money for now is 50, 000 dollars.

Make God Your Anchor To Fulfill Destiny, Cleric Charges Christians … As Jaja Marks 70th Birthday
The Lead Pastor at Jesus Appointed People’s Bible Church, Ozogbe, Ikwerrengwo-Etche, in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Pastor Promise Nwaelele, has urged Christians to make God the anchor of their lives in whatever position they find themselves, in order to attain the destinies set for them by God.
Pastor Nwaelele, who gave the charge recently in a sermon he preached at the 70th birthday anniversary thanksgiving service of Sir Donald Michael Jaja, a veteran journalist in Rivers State, said this is because any genuine child of God is a permanent target for destabilization and destruction by the devil.
Taking his text from the Bible book of Mark 4:16-17, the preacher stated that fulfilment in life for a child of God required faith, obedience to God’s word, humility and grace to withstand trials and temptations.
According to him, temptations and afflictions are bound to happen in the lives of those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
“No wonder the Bible said that those that endure till the end shall be saved”, he said.
The Clergyman said God prospers believers who are humble, not proud and conceited, and leads them to destiny fulfilment.
“David said in Psalm 51:17, that the sacrifices acceptable to God are a broken spirit, not an impatient or proud spirit”, the preacher said.
He called on Christians not to allow persecutions and afflictions to sway them from the love and blessings of Jesus Christ.
On his part, Jaja, a seasoned Journalist who retired as an Acting Editor of the Rivers State Government-owned The Tide Newspaper, gave thanks to God for honouring him by giving him the grace of attaining 70 years.
“I cannot capture what the good Lord has done for me in my entire life in this fleeting moment of thanksgiving. But, I know that without Him, I wouldn’t have been who I am today, in all spheres. Therefore, my joy knows no bounds as I give thanks to my creator today, alongside my family. Praise be His holy name”, Jaja said.
