Sports Enthusiasts Hail Amaechi On Facilities
Sports enthusiastes who accompanied various states’ contingents to the 17th National Sports Festival currently holding in Port Harcourt have applauded the Rivers State Government for the state of- the -art facilities put in place for the festival.
Some of the sports enthusiasts who had attended previous editions of the festival, especially the most recent ones in Kaduna and Abeokuta were unanimous that in comparism, facilities for the “Garden – City Games – 2011” have an edge over them and has taken the festival to the next level.
The sports fans who are boosting the morale of their various state contingents by cheering them up at events were spotted at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex in the Greater Port Harcourt area, Civic centre, City Hall and Agbani Darego Multpurpose centre, among others.
According to one of the sports enthusiasts from Abia State, Miss Onyinyechi Nnabuihe, a Linguistic and Communication graduate from Abia State University, the organisers of the event had done a wonderful job, in ensuring that the games were hitch-free and providing world-class facilities.
Miss Nnabuihe said she had to travel down to Port Harcourt to witness the games and cheer up the Abia State contingent to greater heights in the competition, adding that so far it had been very interesting, intriguing and all-encompassing.
“We are sports enthusiasts who came in from Abia State to boost the morale of our athletes who have so far won silver and bronze medals in some of the events. We are greatly impressed with what we have seen so far. The gigantic size of the Adokiye Amiesemeka stadium, the facilities in place, the orderliness of athletes and officials all make Garden City Games a success,” she said.
