The State Director of Sports, Daobu Harry who said this in an interview with reporters in Port Harcourt stressed that Rivers State was hosting the game to win.
“We are hosting this festival to win, that has been our slogan,” he said.
Hon. Harry however said that the state was not winning by all means but will continue to abide by the rules of the games.
“We are saying that we are not winning by all means, but by the rules of the games.” He also said that all athletes competing for the State were happy because the State was taking good care of them but stressed the need for them to remain focused and at the same time putting smiles on the faces of the people by winning more medals.
The Director also commended the Local Organising Committee for ensuring the best festival in the country.
In another development, the chairman, Sub-Marketing Committee for the festival, Mr Amabipi Martins expressed concern over the poor attitude of some corporate bodies in the State towards the sponsorship of the event.
