RSUST Seeks Partnership To Improve Standard
The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) Port Harcourt has restated its readiness to partner with both national and international organizations to improve the standard of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barineme Fakae said this during a courtesy call on him by officials of Virtua Library Software (VTLS) of Spain and Net Library Nigeria.
The two organizations were in the university to train the trainers workshop on e-library being organized by the institution in conjunction with ELF Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.
Prof. Fakae also said that the series of workshop being organised by the authorities, will not only enable the university to fulfill the dreams of its founding fathers but transform Rivers State into a knowledge based state.
The Vice Chancellor further said that the situation would ensure that staff of the institution are properly equipped for the challenges of helping the university to meet the dream of the founding fathers.
Also speaking, the representative of Virtua Library of Spain, Mr. Sutha Palpanaba expressed happiness to be Nigeria and thanked the university for providing the opportunity for the company to share its knowledge with its staff.
In an interview with newsmen, the university librarian, Lady Blessing Ahiauzu said that the programme is aimed at making libraries facilities accessible to all through software.
Lady Ahiauzu further said that it will provide opportunities for staff of the institution to access major libraries across the world.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.

highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
