Deputy Speaker Endorses Amaechi … Denies Dumping PDP
The Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Dumnamene Deekor and his supporters have vowed to work for the re-election of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as Governor of the state even as the Deputy Speaker denied dumping the PDP for another party .
Deekor who was aggrieved after he lost the PDP primary said he was still a member of the PDP and would do everything to ensure that PDP maintained its leadership both in his constituency and in the state.
The Deputy Speaker who gave the assurance in his country home at Beeri when the former Secretary to the State Government and the PDP Rivers South East senatorial candidate, Hon. Magnus Ngei Abe visited him said he would ensure that PDP won convincingly in Khana constituency ll, adding that the people of Beeri were for PDP.
Hon. Magnus Abe commended Deekor for his understanding and patience, noting that the victory of the party in his constituency at the general election would determine the level of his commitment.
Abe informed the Deputy Speaker that there were more and better opportunities ahead for all committed members of the party if they would cooperate and work for the re-election of Governor Chibuike Amaechi and other candidates of the party.
The former SSG used the opportunity to introduce Hon. Leyii Kwanee, the PDP House of Assembly canddiate for Khana constituency ll and Hon. Maurice Prowem, candidate of the party for the House of Representatives for Gokana and Khana Federal Constituency.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
