RSG Warns Against Posting Of Bills
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Kingsley Chinda has cautioned the people of the state, especially aspiring politicians against the indiscriminate posing of bills in public places.
Mr. Chinda who was speaking in his office while addressing journalists, described the issue of posters as a nuisance, adding that in the recent past the churches and artisans had complied by sanitising their environment, but regretted that politicians are now defacing Port Harcourt City with campaign posters.
He wondered why some of those who are aspiring to lead should flout the law, citing section 36, D and K of the Health Law of the state which forbids the use of posters for whatever reason.
Mr. Chinda disclosed that the Ministry has written to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to disqualify anybody who indulges in the act.
Commissioner Chinda who advised those that want to campaign to use the outdoor advert forum such as, radio, jingle, bill board and hand bill, said that a meeting of political parties would soon be convened to sensitise politicians on the issue, adding that after the meeting anybody found violating the law would be prosecuted.
