Maintain High Ethical Standards, Rotarians Urged
Despite the rising
corruption index in the country, two-term President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, New GRA, Diamond Ovueraye, has charged Rotarians to maintain high ethical standards in business and private life.
Mr. Ovueraye gave the charge while speaking on the topic, “Application and Rotary’s Ethical Standards”, at a Special Seminar and awards meeting of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, GRA last Thursday.
The lecturer while lamenting the declining moral and business standards said Rotarians need to adhere to their principles as spelt out in the body’s “Four-Way Test”.
The former Rotarian President maintained that the “Four-Way Test”, as enunciated by the body remains the basic road map to guide the activities of all Rotarians and non-Rotarians, since they are universal.
The Rotarian harped on the need for tolerance and fairness in daily relationships which must be hinged on the principles of truth, fairness, goodwill, friendships and benefits to all concerned.
In his remarks, President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, GRA, Prof. Winston Bellgam, stated that the seminar was a way of reminding members to stick to the fundamental belief of the group.
Highlights of the programme was a special award to a pediatrician at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Dr. Nwadiutor Akanni and Chief Executive of Cinforest, Mr. Ibifuro Asawo, for their contributions to society.
