Amaechi Condoles Imoke Over Mum’s Death
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says the life and times as well as the contributions of late Madam Comfort Imoke, mother of Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State to the development of her people are achievements that will continue to glorify God.
Governor Amaechi said this Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to Governor Liyel Imoke over the death of his mother, Late Madam Comfort Imoke at Government House, Calabar.
The governor, who commiserated with his Cross River State counterpart on behalf of himself, wife and the people of Rivers State, however observed that for late Madam Comfort Imoke to have lived above 80 years is an indication that God loved her.
He noted that “when we mourn those who have gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord, we look back at their early achievements and in this case, the children that mama has brought to the world, and come to the conclusion that those children and the life she lived here on earth will make her continue to glorify God”, praying God to grant her soul eternal rest.
Governor Liyel Imoke in his response, expressed appreciation of his family, people and Government of Cross River State over the visit, stressing that Governor Amaechi’s visit, which was first by any governor is a demonstration of true friendship and brotherhood especially in time of grief.
Governor Imoke described her late mother as an active woman, during her life time; believing that though she has gone, but her legacies are worthy of celebrating her life.
“For us she was a mother that was very active. Her legacies are worthy of celebrating her life”, Governor Imoke said.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who later signed the condolence register, was accompanied by Alhaji Danladi Bako on the visit.
Meanwhile, Governor Chibuike Amaechi was among the dignitaries that witnessed the Episcopal ordination and installation ceremonies of Rt. Rev. Camillus Umoh, as the new Catholic Bishop of Ikot-Ekpene Diocese, in Akwa Ibom State.
Shortly after the installation, Governor Amaechi congratulated the new Bishop as he assumes office as the Catholic Bishop of Ikot-Ekpene Diocese.
