Easter: Transport Fares Remain Stable
Transport fares have remained stable in spite of the mass movement of people for the Easter celebration, investigations have shown.
Our correspondent, who visited some motor parks, reports that passengers still paid the old fares.
For example, travellers from Uselu park to Ibadan by taxi still paid N1,500, while passengers to Lagos and Ughelli in Delta paid N1,500 and N800 respectively.
A loader at Uselu park said fares were not arbitrarily hiked at the park, even in times of fuel scarcity.
“ How can we hike fares now, even when the passengers are not rushing?,’’ the loader, who asked not to be named, asked.
Our source reports that many of the passengers at the parks were members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who passed out from the orientation camp on Tuesday.
