Delta Govt Assures PHCN Of Conducive Environment
The Delta government has assured the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) of its commitment to provide a conducive environment to it and other corporate orgnaisations.
Mr Raymos Guanah, the Chairman of the Delta Task Force on the removal of illegal and unapproved structures in the urban areas, conveyed the government position to PHCN on Thursday in Asaba.
The re-assurance came on the heels of a call by the management of PHCN, requesting government to demolish illegal structures under its cables.
Guanah said that the task force was not only saddled with the responsibility of recovering government land, but would also ensure that the aesthetic beauty of the state capital was restored.
He said that the task force would ensure that structures in any illegal and unauthorised area were removed.
Guanah said that the state government was poised to ensuring that every corporate organisation in the state had a comfortable and conducive environment to work.
The task force chairman appealed to the police authorities in the state to remove all the structures built under high tension wire in Effurun in Uvwie local government area.
Guanah said that the task force would not hesitate to demolish such structures because of the danger they posed to the society and called on the police authorities to cooperate with the task force.
The newsmen reports that the management of PHCN had asked the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development to comply with the mandatory 5.5 metres distance from PHCN installations.
Mr. Ifeanyi Nwaosu, PHCN Business Manager in Delta, said that illegal structures under the Asaba 33KV line was posing problem to PHCN in reaching its installations in times of danger.
He also said that such structures also posed great danger to the inhabitants of the area.
