AUST To Partner UNN In Post-graduate Programmes
The African University
of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja has entered into a collaborative Academic Agreement (CAA) with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), for an executive linkage postgraduate programme.
The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, UNN, Mrs. Affiong Emmanuel Akpan said in a statement made available to The Tide in Abuja, that the programme is expected to provide executive linkage postgraduate programmes in three faculties of UNN Viz Arts, Social Sciences and Business Administration which comprise of departments and disciplines.
According to the statement, the agreement when fully implemented, would have AUST, Abuja as the programe centre, while faculties (Teaching Staff) would come from UNN, which will award certificates to successful students.
“The intensive Postgraduate Diploma would take a minimum of twenty four (24) and a maximum of thirty-six months divided into semesters of sixteen to seventeen weeks each, while a masters degree will take a minimum of thirty-six and a maximum of forty eight months divided into semesters of sixteen to seventeen weeks each with lectures holding only on Saturdays at the AUST Campus in Abuja”, the statement said.
It continued that “the programme is expected to commence as soon as submission of applications closes in July 2010”.
The secretary, Postgraduate School explained that the choice of AUST as centre for the programme was based on the school’s commitment to excellence comparable to most world recognised universities and the availability of basic infrastructures needed for effective implementation of the programme.
“AUST has since inception been partnering with Corporate organisations and institutions in the advancement of learning, research and development in sub-Saharan Africa.
