ArchBishop Nglass Tasks Nigerians On Service
Nigerians have been called upon, to use their skills, talents and resources in whatever position they find themselves, to serve and glorify God. This is because God wants them to render service in the positions He had put them.
The retired Anglican Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province, Most Rev. E.E. Nglass, made the call Sunday in a sermon he preached to mark Palm Sunday at the St. Paul’s (Anglican) Church, Okoroboile, Andoni in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Taking his text from the Bible book of Matthew 21:3 in sermon whose theme was: “God Needs You”, Nglass insisted that Nigerians forget why they occupy positions as parents, wives, husbands and government officials. “The reason is that God wants you there”, he asserted.
According to the Archbishop Emeritus, Jesus Christ chose to ride on a colt to Jerusalem for the Passover on Palm Sunday to demonstrate his extreme humility.
“All we have was given to us on trust”, the religious leaders said, stressing that “God needs us and our skills.
Nglass said the ambivalence of man was portrayed in bold relief in the situation in which those who shouted Hossannah and threw Palm fronts and their clothes on the ground for Christ to ride on, were the same mob who shouted, crucify him later.
From Adam, human beings hardly appreciate something to the end, Nglass said, stating that when he sinned, Adam told God that it is “the woman you gave to me”, that made him to sin.
He called on Nigerians to keep their conscience alive and serve God better.
In the service which was also used to honour Lady Justina Dinne Adafe-Jaja on her womanhood ceremony, the Archbishop Emeritus lauded the celebrant on her achievement and congratulated Sir and Lady Adagogo Dinne Adafa-Jaja on their investiture as Knight/Lady of Saint Christopher.
The service which was attended by many dignitaries including the Rivers State Auditor-General, Sir Gogo Harrison and Alabo (Prince) Charles Mac Pepple Jaja, featured the launching of the church parsonage building fund and dancing by Lady Justina.
