Adventist Church Launches Multi-Lingual Bible
As part of efforts to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ nearer to the people, the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sunday, at Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt, unveiled to the public a multi-lingual Bible translation written in sixty six languages across the world.
The multi-lingual Bible translation is an initiative conceived through inspiration by the Seventh Day Adventist World Church leaders and has so far travelled to 177 out of the 220 nations recognised by the United Nations.
Receiving the Bible on behalf of the Rivers Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rivers and Bayelsa States, respectively the president of the Conference, Pastor Moses Okai stated that the multi lingual Bible started its tour to the various countries of the world at Sabbath afternoon of October 11, 2008 in the Philippines, South-Asia Pacific Division of the Asian continent.
Pastor Okai stated that the Bible was unique, adding that it arrived the country last week through the Republic of Benin, Sahel Union and has been received by all the unions in the country.
He disclosed that the Bible will leave Nigeria to the Cameroon from where it would continue its journey to other African countries and continents.
“It is an undeniable fact that for so many people in our society and other parts of the world, the Bible has just become so ordinary and one of the literature books in the world today”, Pastor Okai lamented.
Also speaking, the president, Eastern Union Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor C. Nwogwugwu thanked the people of the state for successful hosting and unveiling of the multi lingual Bible in the state and prayed the Almighty God to strengthen their spiritual growths.
The climax of the event was the public unveiling of the Bible and reading of some chapters of the bible in French, Hausa languages as well as “pidgin” English language.
