RSG Resolves 28-Year Old Kula Chieftaincy Dispute
The Rivers State Government has finally resolved the 28 years old chieftaincy crisis in Kula community in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.
The resolution follows the recognition by the government of HRH King Koroma Amabibi Eleki Sara xiv as the Amanyanabo of Kula Kingdom.
The State Governor RT Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who made the pronouncement during a meeting at the State Security Service headquarters in Port Harcourt also announced the classification of the stool to third class.
The Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government Hon. Magnus Abe said that the recognition is in line with the relevant chieftaincy laws of the state.
The State Governor also warned those who are in the habit of fomenting trouble in the community to desist as the government would not hesitate to deal with them.
According to him, no amount of blackmail will stop the government from taking action that will move the state forward and urged them to unite to move the community forward.
In his response, HRH King Koroma Amabibi Eleki, thanked the State Government for bringing the crisis to an end.
King Amabibi also urged for forgiveness among indigenes of the community.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Chapter of the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV), a frontline crusader of non-violence in the state has lauded the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for peacefully settling the Kula Kingdom kingship battle that lasted for 28 year.
According to NDCAV the governor took the right position by confirming the earlier position of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ken Chikere by declaring Chief Kroma Eleki, one of the parties in the dispute, the duly installed Amanyanabo of Kula Kingdom.
NDCAV then called on HRH King Kroma Amabibi Eleki (Sara XIV), Amanyanabo of Kula Kingdom to please forget the past and be “magnanimous in victory” so that Kula community would grow rapidly and become an enviable community for others to emulate.
