Rivers 2009/2010 Legal Year Begins, Monday
The Rivers State Judiciary will begin the 2009/2010 legal year on Monday with a church service at St. Cyprians Anglican Church, Port Harcourt.
This is contained in a release issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt from the office of the Chief Registrar of High Court and signed by Charles Wali.
According to the release, which was made available to newsmen, the state Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu will perform the opening ceremony.
Consequently, all Judges and Magistrates in the state have been called upon to assemble at the court yard earlier than 10.00 a.m. when the programme will officially begin.
The release further added that as part of activities for the day, Justice Ndu will inspect a guard of honour to be mounted by the Nigeria Police at the premises of the High Court.
Also, a special High Court session to be presided over by Justice Ndu will hold, and will be followed by a cocktail party, which will conclude the day’s event.
