Pastor Arrested For Selling Son
The Police in Abia State have arrested one Pastor Egbuka for allegedly attempting to sell his son.
Abia State Police Commissioner, Jonathan Johnson, said the suspect currently held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia, allegedly sold four-year old Ugochukwu Egbuka to a medical doctor for N150,000 on the pretext that the boy was not his biological son.
The Pastor was said to have married the mother of the boy when she was pregnant.
The Commissioner of Police who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Ali Okechukwu, said the pastor after selling the child, lodged a complaint at the Obehie Police Division that the boy was missing.
As investigation into the case progressed, the man of God ate his words and admitted selling the boy to the doctor who is still at large.
“The suspect admitted selling the child whose name is Ugochukwu Egbuka for the sum of N150,000. Suspect stated that the child is not his, that he married the mother with the pregnancy. He further alleged that he is not the biological father of the child and does not want him in his life, hence he sold the child,” the Police boss said.
The Pastor, in an interview with newsmen, admitted committing the offence but said he did it with the consent of his wife.
