Flood Threatens Asaba Metropolis
Some parts of Asaba, the Delta State capital is experiencing much flooding following the heavy rains.
Our correspondent who went round the town to ascertain the situation of things reports that the menaces of flooding in the area is already giving residents sleepless nights as families are planning to relocate except something is done to check the situation.
Areas most affected are Ezenei, Asagba primary and secondary school area, Umuagu, Umuonaje, Oni Edozien Road and front of South gate Hotel among others.
A resident who spoke to our correspondent, Madam Ogechi Ojei who resides at DLA road, said the situation was very painful following the difficulties they encountered whenever it rained and called on the government to take action quickly to remedy the situation.
Also Mr Daniel Okechukwu who resides at Ezenei said the flooding could lead to collapse of many houses in the area.
He blamed the situation on poor drainage system in the area, while calling on the people to change their attitude of dumping refuse in water channels.
A resident who asked for anonymity noted that the poor attitude of the people has contributed to flooding and called on them to change.
Others who responded said that the government should commence the construction of proper drainage system in the area to avoid more damages.
