2019: IAUOE Denies N20,000 Levy To Fund Wike’s Re-Election Claim
The authorities of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE), Rumuoluemeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State have condemned, in strong terms, the recent statement credited to the factional Chairman of the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree against the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and the institution as laughable, and described Ojukaye as a big joke.
The APC factional chairman, had alleged that the authorities of the institution issued a circular requesting each student to pay an entrepreneurship training levy of N20,000 on submission of typed project work with a similar amount for binding the project work.
He alleged that the levies were a grand design by the university to raise funds to support the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike’s 2019 campaigns.
But the institution, in swift reaction in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Okiridu, described Ojukaye’s statement as laughable, adding that it was a cheap publicity stunt designed to incite students to cause trouble and destabilise the existing peace on campus as well as discredit and embarrass the governor.
She, therefore, advised members of the public to discountenance the said statement as the allegations were completely baseless and unfounded.
“We also appeal to our law abiding students to remain calm and go about their normal studies”, she added.
