Obasanjo, Five Ex-Presidents, Others At NCS Meeting …Nyako Makes Surprise Appearance
Despite speculations that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan were not on the same footing following their alleged disagreements on certain national issues, President Obasanjo was among five other former presidents who attended the National Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.
Only former military head of state, Muhammadu Buhari was absent at the meeting, which lasted for several hours.
Also, in spite of the ongoing move to impeach Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, he shocked everybody when he stormed the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa yesterday morning to attend a meeting of the National Council of State (NCS).
The embattled governor became man of the moment when he arrived the venue with newsmen rushing to cover his arrival.
Visibly unperturbed, Nyako moved round the venue to exchange pleasantries with his other colleagues and some presidential aides, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim.
Members of the National Council of State, including former presidents and former chief justices of Nigeria, governors of the 36 states of the federation and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the president of the Senate and the speaker of the House of Representatives as well as the attorney general of the federation were all in attendance.
Also at the meeting were the Chiefs of Army, Air force and Navy, as well as the Chief of Defence Staff.
Equally in attendance were the Inspector General of Police, the directors general of the Department of State Services (DSS) and National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
