Emulate Amaechi’s Leadership Style -Group
A socio-political group under the aegis of “Friends of Rotimi Amaechi in Nigeria (FORAIN)”, has identified poor leadership as the major challenge of development that stares Nigeria on the face.
The group in a statement entitled: “Time to Crave Responsible and Responsive Leadership in Nigeria,” issued shortly after a one-day leadership forum in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, stated that poor leadership has robbed the country of enormous growth in all spheres.
FORAIN maintained that “at a time Nigeria and Nigerians should be reaping enormously from democratic governance, unfortunately poor and weak leadership enmeshed by impunity, corruption, lack of commitment to the people, among others, have robbed us of the benefits.”
Endorsed by its National President, Mr. Sylvester Nsa, the group’s statement maintains that it was in observance of the critical nature of Nigeria’s leadership disposition that it sprang up with the objective of drawing the attention of future and prospective leaders to emulate and imbibe certain qualities in today’s leaders that may help to right the wrongs in the governance process.
It also stated that “we are concerned with a leadership that performs; with practical and concrete development indexes that benefit a greater number to show.’’
The group, however, noted that in the midst of this challenge, Nigeria has fortunately been blessed with some leaders who have the Midas Torch to revamp the country.
“One such leader in the country is His Excellency, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. We quite appreciate his leadership qualities. In fact , we are concerned that in the midst of distractions and efforts by retrogressive forces to thwart his effort at fixing Rivers State, Governor Amaechi has remained focused; displaying grim resilience, steadfastness and an avowed commitment to the social contract he had with the people in holding their mandate in trust as governor for the past seven years,” the group observed.
The group also noted that, “by this great feat Ameachi has proven to be a leader worthy of emulation,” and therefore urged that, “Nigerian youths who aspire to be political leaders should emulate this people–oriented leadership style of Governor Amaechi in order to truly take Nigeria out of the woods.”
