‘Amaechi’ll Remain Governor Till 2015’
The Rivers State Leadership Advancement Foundation of Ex-Rivers State Union Leaders says Governor Chibuike Amaechi will remain in Government House till 2015 despite the continuous opposition against his administration.
National President of the foundation, Hon Alex Wele who said this during the inauguration of the Abua/Odual chapter of the foundation at the weekend, noted that those fighting the governor were merely chasing shadows.
Hon Wele said that the people of Rivers State had given the governor a mandate that would end in 2015, and urged those struggling to scuttle it to have a rethink.
The RIVLEAF president who is also a Special Adviser to the Governor also alleged that Amaechi was being persecuted because of his stand against the ceding of Rivers oil wells to some neighbouring states in the country.
He cautioned the people of Abua/Odual against selling their votes, stressing that this time around, votes must count in the state.
The council chairman, Hon Udi Odum said that the council would partner with the RIVLEAF to ensure massive support of Abua/Odual people to Governor Amaechi.
Hon Odum also cautioned political witch-hunters in the area to put the interest of Abua/Odual above their personal interest by cooperating with the government to move the area forward.
He also advised those criticising the governor from Abuja to come home and join in the task of moving the state forward.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Ephraim Ineingim thanked RIVLEAF for inaugurating its chapter in the area, noting that it would provide opportunity for the people to be fully incorporated into governance in the state.
He also urged the governor to remember other programmes that would put food on the table of the commonman in Abua/Odual.
