Traffic Control: TIMARIVWants To Partner OilFirms
The Comptroller-General of the Rivers State Transport Management Authority (TIMARIV), Mr Nelson Jaja, has called on multinational oil companies operating in the state to partner with the authority in road traffic management in Rivers State.
The Comptroller-General made the appeal in his office in Port Harcourt last Monday during an exclusive interview with The Tide.
He said the task of traffic management in Rivers State requires a holistic approach and called on all stakeholders to contribute towards effective traffic management in the state.
Jaja, who commended the management of Total and Shell for their contributions in traffic management said the authority plans to expand its services beyond Port Harcourt to areas such as Oyigbo, Eleme, Bori, Omoku, among others.
On staff welfare, the comptroller said the authority has come out with an operational handbook for staff discipline and regulation.
He hinted that TIMARIV was undergoing internal transformation to flush out all the bad eggs in its service and assured improved service delivery by the authority.
The Comptroller-General also pointed out that the authority will soon address the issue of confirmation of all staff that are due, and the payment of arears of financial benefits to all deserving staff.
“We have concluded plans to ensure that all those due confirmation get their confirmation by the end of the first quarter of this year. We will also pay the arears of those that are due,” he stated.
Jaja also stated that TIMARIV was facing some teething challenges such as financial constraints as it presently survives on grant from the Rivers State Government.
