Ministry Begins Water Connection Scheme In PH, Environs
Rivers State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development has begun a water connection scheme to boost water provision in Port Harcourt and its environs.
In a press statement signed by the General Manager of the State Water Board (RSWB), Engr Martins Mmeo, the scheme would cover Elekahia community, Eagles Island, Nkpogu and Old Port Harcourt Township for the mean time.
Mmeo said that the exercise was a continuous process and would last as long as members of the public could afford the connection, which he said was highly subsidised.
According to the RSWB General Manager, “this administration was eager to provide water to the public as much as they can afford. This would reduce the problem of water scarcity in the metropolis”
He stated that the water board was poised at meeting the water needs of the people in the state, following the success recorded in the repairs of some water works.
Listing the requirements needed for interested members of the public to enjoy the scheme, he advised them to contact the Customer Care Unit by providing their address and location of their building.
He said the necessary data to the Customer Care Unit would assist the engineers to locate, access and subsequently connect the customer to nearby pipeline.
The RSWB General Manager said there were plans by the board to extend the exercise to other parts of the metropolis and promised that before the year ends, areas not currently affected would be covered.
