Emohua LG Boss Inspects Proposed Police Headquarters Project
Emohua Local Government has commenced the construction of a Divisional Police Headquarters opposite the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University, along the Emohua-Kalabari road.
Chairman of the Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd who visited the project site to ascertain the progress of work, said his administration had already made complete payment of the contractual obligation.
He encouraged the contractor handling the project to take advantage of the dry season and mobilise substantial manpower to the site to ensure speedy execution and timely delivery of the project.
Recall that the Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, had during the commissioning of the Emohua campus (Faculty of Social Sciences) of the Rivers State University in September 2022 directed the council chairman to construct a police station around the campus.
In line with the governor’s directive, Dr. Chidi Lloyd conceptualised a storey building complex to serve as a divisional police headquarters in the local government headquarters.
It might interest you to know that the headquarters of Emohua LGA never had a police divisional headquarters since the creation of the LGA over 30years ago, aside the Anti-Cultism Unit situated opposite the Emohua main market along the East-West Road.
There are only two divisional police headquarters in the entire LGA; one in Rumuji and the other in Egbeda.
The proposed divisional police headquarters conceptualized and executed by the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd opposite the university campus is expected to upon completion to provide effective policing, not only in the university campus, but also within Emohua and Ogbakiri communities, which never had any police establishment.
Dr. Lloyd later made a brief stopover at the council secretariat complex for an unscheduled inspection of projects executed simultaneously within the council, some of which include the construction of the Local Government Administrative block.
The reconstruction and remodeling of the legislative council complex, the completion of the council secretariat building (office complex), the construction of the 500 seater Emohua council pavilion (Mini Stadium), the 350 capacity ICT studio, the primary healthcare cold chain and office complex, as well as the council warehouse project.
