2019: CAN Insists On Political Office Rotation
Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Delta State Chapter has said that God will judge any indigene of Delta State who goes against the covenant of the rotation of governorship in the state.
It also warned politicians against spilling blood to appease their political gods.
Chairman, CAN, Delta State, Apostle Sylvanus Okorote, last Friday night during the 2018 nine lessons and carols organised by the Delta State Ministry of Information held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, said there was a covenant among the three senatorial districts in the state, which should not be broken by anybody.
Speaking on “Peace Through The Reconciliatory Work Of Christ”, Okorote told the people who converged for the carol night not to break covenants, noting that covenants are witnessed by Angels of God, hence they are sacred and should be seen as such.
He said: “Do not break covenants, I’m not referring to covenants with God but covenant with man. God will judge you if you break covenants. Covenant in Delta should not be broken.”
The Chairman warned politicians against spilling blood to appease their political gods, noting that in the days of former President Goodluck Jonathan, he told Nigerians that his ambition did not worth the blood of anyone.
Taking analogy from Herod in the Bible who killed little children in Nazareth for him to retain his hold to power in the province, he warned politicians not to dream of spilling blood of innocent Delta people to achieve their political ambition.
“Do not stain your hands with blood. You must not take someone’s life to retain power. I will pray to God to catapult you out of Delta State if you are thinking of getting power through violence in 2019,” he said.
On the recent upsurge in ritual killings in the state, he warned youths to stay away from ritual activities, warning that they should not steal ladies underwear to get the magic power to make money.
He also warned politicians aginst wasting money on girls when they have wives wasting away in their homes, saying such actions are ungodly and condemnable.
