PH Electricity Consumers Task DISCO On Improved Supply
Electricity consumers in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, have challenged the authorities of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) to improve service supply, especially during the forthcoming yuletide.
Some of the consumers who spoke to The Tide at the weekend, said there is need for the company to prove its commitment to the social welfare of its esteemed customers and increase supply to make celebration of the season worthwhile.
Mr Samuel Nonso, said, “yuletide is a special period of love when people give gifts to loved ones so if actually the high patronage of numerous power consumers is important to PHED, the company should prove that claim by increasing supply for the enjoyment of its customers who have suffered unjustifiable outages within the year.
Since we are not expecting any gift from the company during Christmas and New Year because it had never done so, therefore PHED should convert its seasonal gift to improved power supply,” he said.
Another customer, Justice Life, an operator of a Sports Club in Diobu area of Port Harcourt, urged PHED to show love to Port Harcourt residents.
“The Christmas and New Year are periods of celebration and electricity is one major thing that can impact either negatively or positively during this all important season.
“Let PHED rise up to the challenge by giving its customers reason to have good celebration,” he said.
Speaking in similar note, another respondent, Miss Clarice Goodhead, appealed for better power supply during the yuletide for the comfort of the people of Port Harcourt.
According to Goodhead, “erratic supply of light during yuletide can be viewed as sabotage. I think that PHED should take our interest seriously by increasing power supply, at least to make as enjoy the period.
“If supply is poor, it would negatively affect the festive mood of the period, therefore, I appeal to PHED to take the extra pain to show love to its customers who had for a while year patronized it.”
