Board Chairman Assures On Quality Education In C’River
The Chairman, Cross
River State Secondary Education Board, Mr Johnson Ugbor, has promised that the board will work hard to ensure high standard of secondary education in the state.
Ugbor made the promise in an interview with newsmen in Calabar recently.
He said that the board would collaborate with the state Ministry of Education to live up to the expectations of the people.
“The position that Cross River finds itself presently in the education ranking in the country is regrettable.
“We currently occupy the 27th position in 2015 ratings while we were in the 6th position in 2013. It is our responsibility to erase this national embarrassment.
“We must return our state to an enviable position in the comity of states in Nigeria’s education system.
“We will synergise with our parent ministry to achieve the set objective,’’ he said.
Ugbor said that the five-member board was ready and committed to work, and solicited the support of the state government to ensure that it succeeded in its assignment.
He, however, said that the board would properly supervise and monitor the schools to restore dignity to the teaching profession.
