D-G Assures Corps Members Of Security In Delta
The Director-General,
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawunmi, has assured corps members participating in the conduct of the forthcoming council elections in Delta State of adequate security.
Olawunmi gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
The director-general said that the corps had made concrete arrangement with security agencies in the state to ensure the safety of corps members during the election scheduled to hold on October 25.
He said that NYSC had set up a distress call centre in each state of the federation to enable corps members to make calls and receive immediate response if they found themselves in danger.
Olawunmi, who expressed regret that some NYSC members lost their lives during past elections in the country, said that adequate steps had been taken to prevent a repetition.
He, however, urged the corps members not to allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians to rig elections, warning that anyone found doing that would face the law.
On Ebola disease, he said that NYSC had made arrangement with the state’s Ministry of Health to sensitise the corps members on the dangers of becoming infected.
He advised the corps members currently at the orientation camp to imbibe personal hygiene as a preventive measure against all forms of vital diseases.
