Trade Fair: India Showcases Products Of 14 Companies
India is showcasing products and services of 14 companies at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair even as it plans to train Nigerians in food packaging.
Our correspondent reports that the India Trade Promotion Organisation and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries jointly arranged the participation of the companies at the 25th edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair.
Reports also indicate that an Indian agricultural firm is organising training, free of charge, for Africans interested in food packaging.
Mr Sanjai Singh, an official of the Indian Ministry of Food Processing Industries at the fair venue that India could provide technical-know-how of food technology and management to Nigerians.
Singh also said that the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneur and Management in New Delhi, India, would train Nigerians on post-harvest technology and food processing.
He said the proposed training would take place in Mumbai, India, and would be free.
Singh said the India Institute for Crop Processing has the objectives of conducting basic applied research, education and training in the area of post-harvest processing of crops.
According to him, the institute also acts as the national organisation for information on post-harvest production systems of crops.
Products on display by the 14 companies at the fair include bed and table covers, lamp shades, handmade products including jewelries, curtains, mosquito nets, paintings, scarves and engine valves.
