A’Ibom LG Chairmen Have No Reason For Failure – Gov
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has said the State’s Local Government Chairmen do not have any reason not to execute projects that would impact positively on the lives of their people at the grassroots.
He stated this during the disbursement of N50million Eket Arise Empowerment Initiative and small businesses grant to 500 beneficiaries in Eket Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Hon. Frank Archibong, said with this development the people would seriously feel the dividends of democracy and continue to have hope for more projects.
He used the medium advise the beneficiaries to utilise their funds for meaningful businesses while the local government chairmen should always be with their people to understand their problems and give assistance when needed.
He said the Arise Agenda empowerment initiative small business grant to 500 entrepreneurs “is a clear demonstration of our resolve to support small and medium enterprises as the back bone of our local economy”.
The Chairman, Eket Local Government Council, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, commended the Governor for his kind gesture to the beneficiaries, and urged the beneficiaries to make use of it judiciously for the benefit of their development.
He thanked the people for their commitment and urged them to ensure that the grants given to them are not wasted, noting that “this empowerment is the first of its kind in any local government across the nation”.
